Friday Mashup #25

Here is my card for the Friday Mashup.

I used the Letter Press for this card and found that using watercolor paper works very well. I also put a couple pieces of scrap card stock on top of the watercolor paper to get a deeper impression.

You can participate in the Friday Mashup too. Just click on the blinkie below and head on over to the blog site.

Mashup Maven

WOW. I just received an email from Terry Blais with Friday Mashup, among other things, telling me I had been selected as the Mashup Maven for the week. I am so honored to be selected. As I mentioned in the previous post, I am participating in more challenges. I am even more encouraged now.

SUO and Stamping 411 challenges

Here is my submission to the SUO and Stamping 411 challenges. The SUO challenge is Bring on the Bling and the Stamping 411 is a four layer card. I am trying to participate in more challenges to keep my creativity energized and to spend more time in my crafting area. One of my fellow demos is encouraging me also. Thanks Terry for your support, it spurs me on.

Color Challenge 303

Today I decided to participate in the Splitcoast Stampers color challenge: Night of Navy, Old Olive, and Daffodil Delight. I used buttons, DSP, and the embossing folder from the new Occasions Mini.

Mojo Monday 171

This was a fun card to make for Mojo Monday. We have several friends who have their pilots license and a couple who own their own planes, so I thought this set from the new occasions mini, would be good to have on hand. TFL.

A Christmas Gift

Here is a gift I made for a friend. I used one of those glass blocks and spray painted it with this cool paint that comes out textures red and white. My wonderful husband taught me how to do the painting. The words are from the Join in the Cheer die strip and I used the red glitter paper from the new occasions mini. TFL

Anniversary Card

I made this card for some friends who have their wedding anniversary the end of the year. I didn't use any stamps but I just had to use one of the key charms from the upcoming occasions mini. I like how it turned out and hope you enjoy it too.

Twas the Day Before My Stampin’ Up! PreOrder Came

I found this at Lorri's blog which is included at the end of the post. I am going to print this out and give it to my Mr. Brown.

Twas the Day Before My Stampin’ Up! PreOrder Came

Twas the day before my Stampin’ UP preorder came
And I was updating my blog.
Not a creature was stirring
Not even my dog.

All my swaps were laid out
On the stamp table with care
In hopes that Mr. Brown
Soon would be there.

The children were nestled
All snug in their school,
While visions of stamping
Caused me to drool!

And I, with glitter on my face
And my fingers covered with ink
Sat down to check out Stampin’ Connection
In hopes of finding a COOL link!

When out on the street
There arose such a clatter
I sprang from my computer
To see what was the matter!

My adrenaline rushed
And a truck could be heard.
Will my stamping obsession
Ever be cured?

When what to my wandering eyes
Should appear
But a big brown truck
With a large rear view mirror.

With a foxy little driver
Who drove all over the town
I knew in a moment
It must be Mr. Brown!

He was dressed in all brown
From his head to his socks
All I could think of was
MR. BROWN ROCKS!

A bundle of stamps
He had flung on his back
At this point I thought
I was going to have a heart attack!

His eyes how they twinkled
His dimples, how merry
My obsession with Mr. Brown
Is becoming quite scary!

Then onto my Stampin’ Up! boxes
Which are stacked up quite high
I can hardly even remember
All the stamp supplies I did buy!

Stamp sets! Reinkers!
And ribbons galore!
Cardstock, and buttons!
Now who could want MORE?

As I drown in my stamping goodies
And grab a coffee with cream
I suddenly realized
It was only a DREAM!

The story is over
Yes, you heard me right….
Merry Christmas to all,
And to all a creative stamping night!

Card Swaps

Here are the card swaps from our demo meeting on Saturday.
Thanks Terry for all you do to motivate each of us.
This is the card that Karen shared with us.

This is Terry's card.

Kim made this card. It goes so well with the gift I got during our gift exchange.
This fun card was made by Amber.

Where there is bling you will find Shirley Sue. This is her card "sparkling" as usual.

This is my card. I had to use some new items from the upcoming mini. Love the seam binding.

Thanks for looking.

This is the gift I received from our demo meeting Christmas party. My upline, Kim made it. It has a battery operated candle on the inside. I "stole" it from one of the other demo's who selected it before me and I almost lost it to another demo. All in great fun.

I enjoy our demo meetings, but I have to say the Christmas one is my favorite. It is so much fun to see everyones creativity and the festive atmosphere.

I will post the cards from our exchange later.

American Ink Christmas Party

Yesterday was our demo group Christmas party at Terry's  studio. Each year we have a "Yankee" style gift exchange. This is the gift I made for the exchange. It was lots of fun and several of the gifts were "stollen" more than once. We have a wonderful group of demonstrators and enjoy gathering each month to share and encourage each other.

I will post more pics from the event later.

Welcome Cheri

I would like to welcome a long time friend to my Stampin' Up! team. Cheri Mueller has just signed up as a demonstrator, taking advantage of the  Simply Amazing Recruiting Promotion offered by Stampin' Up! through November 30.

Cheri and I have been friends for years. We met while I was teaching One Stroke painting and she was the head of education at a major craft store. We have remained friends while her husband was transferred around the US with the Navy. She and her family have now settled in Boulder City, Nevada.

If you are in the Las Vegas area and you are looking for a demonstrator, please contact Cheri. You will enjoy her energy and her creativity. For now you can find her via the demonstrator finder on the Stampin' Up! website. I will post Cheri's website address as soon as she gets it set up. Welcome Cheri!

Card box combo

I want to thank Valita for this project of a card that opens up to be a box. I am putting tags inside the box. Visit her blog to get the directions and watch a video http://valitasfreshfolds.blogspot.com .

The first card I made took me a while to make while I wrapped my brain around the directions but I know the next one will be easier.
The picture below is the card closed. Thanks for looking.

I'm back

I'm back from a wonderful cruise vacation that went from Quebec City to Ft. Lauderdale. We had a great time with friends and saw some beautiful county side. Our entire trip was relaxing and delightful.

Two days after we got home my husband had some planned surgery, then two days later he went in for an unplanned surgery. He is home recouping now, doing well, and things are getting back to normal, which means I can start stamping again. I am so glad he is on the mend.

I am now starting to think about Christmas cards and getting ready for the holidays. (The hospital already had Christmas trees up all over the place.) It has been fun viewing other blogs and seeing the color combinations other demonstrators are using. Thanks for stopping by.

No posts until November 1

I am going to be away from my card making supplies and tapping in to some of my other creative pleasures for the rest of the month. Please stop back in November and see what I have been up to. Thanks...Michelle

Growing Green

Just received the Growing Green stamp set. I have seen some striking cards made with this set and thought I should design a card too. The texture on the Cajun Craze card stock is made with the plaid sizzix folder. I then used Early Expresso to distress the paper. Since it is Fall, it is time for me to bring out the Champagne Shimmer which I added to the CC paper, the leaves on the fern, and the edges of the rose. TFL.

Waffle Paper & Web Folder

This was a fun card to make. I used the small oval punch for the pumpkins. The web was sponged with champagne shimmer after it was cut out. And I made a bow with waffle paper. The bow is a bit too big, but I had already secured the brad around the middle so I left it there. I will know for next time. TFL.

Friday Mashup

Here is my first try at Friday Mashup. I was able to upload a better picture on Oct. 3. TFL

Tuesday, September 28, 2010

This was a fun card to make. I like the new small oval punch and the lace ribbon is so much fun to work with. I am hoping SU! will come up with a pink and/or red lace for Valentines day. Not trying to start a rumor, just dreaming a bit. Thanks for looking today.

French Foliage

I used the color coach for this card and really like the combination. The stamp set, French Foliage, is versatile for backgrounds and layering. It has become one of my seasonal favorites.

Saturday, September 18, 2010

This is a sweet card I made for a friends grand daughters first birthday. There is a yellow button inside of the oval in the left corner.
The picture doesn't do this card justice. I am working on taking better display photos, and now that the cruise season is over in Seattle, I will have more time. Thanks for looking.

Texture

I am a person who likes texture. For as long as I can remember, one of the first things that draws me to clothes, handbags, cards, just about everything is texture. I am also currently addicted to the texture folders that SU! has been adding to their line.

This was a fun card I made a while ago but forgot to share with you. Hope you enjoy it, too.

Distressed Kit

I love the distress kit from this years catalog. I used it for this card and I can tell you it is hard to know when to stop. I used the tea stain and the mahogany on this card. The colors add depth to the card.

If you don't have the distress kit yet you can click on my Stampin' Up! website and place an order. Join in the fun.

Anniversary Card

This is the card I made for my husband for our 41st anniversary. Gary is the love of my life and a wonderful man. I enjoyed making the card and he enjoyed receiving it.

Monday, August 16, 2010

These are a couple of the cards we made at the last club meeting. Hope you enjoy them.

Thursday, July 22, 2010

Today I was able to finish some cards I had started at one of our stamp clubs. Sometimes I am having so much fun talking and snacking that I don't finish all the projects. Does that ever happen to you? I come away from those evenings as happy and satisfied as if I had finished everything. For me, the time together to share and get new ideas is an achievement in itself.

This next card is one of the stamp sets and wheels from the new catalog, Morning Cup and Take a Sip. Living in the Seattle area this set speaks to a lot of my friends.
Thanks for looking.

Monday Stamping

It has cooled down here and is a comfortable day to make cards. I have been playing with my new stamps and DSP. Hope you enjoy.

This card does have a piece of retired ribbon. I couldn't help myself because it went so well with the rest of the card.

Thursday, July 8, 2010

Here are a few more cards from my creative surge. Today is a beautiful, hot, sunny day here in the Northwest. Summer has arrived and I get to play with my stamps for a bit. Life is good.
Happy stamping to you all.

An Afternnon with Friends

An entire afternoon of stamping with friends. Life is very good. I made a dozen cards in an afternoon and got to catch up with friends. Here are a few of the cards. Hope you enjoy.
